Video Music Awards
It’s Friday morning. Where were you last night, music lovers? Maybe at a show, maybe at a bar, maybe at home studying, or maybe you’re at home watching the MTV Video Music Awards like yours truly. The VMA’s are a night of fun and fanfare when all of the hard work by the artists, producers, directors, actors, and everyone else it took to make a stellar music video is celebrated and honored. Hosted by Kevin Hart, the VMA’s are one of the biggest pop culture events every year. Artists who have been on tour, endorsing products like Adidas and Pepsi, recording albums, and appearing on television shows and in movies all year dress up and get down with their fellow celebs. Between the award presentations, artists Alicia keys, Nicki Minaj, Green Day, 2 Chainz, Rihanna and Taylor Swift rocked out incredible performances, crowd participation highly encouraged. It was no shock that Rihanna took the top prize, Video of the Year, but more than one member of the audience was surprised when One Direction beat out Fun, Carly Rae Jepsen, The Wanted, and Frank Ocean for the Best New Artist Award. However, by the end of the night the modern-day boy-band scored two other Moonmen. If you missed the show, check out the highlights online or catch the reruns tonight at 8:00pm eastern standard time…or you can just check out the results here:
